Supported living Services at Alternative Futures Group

Alternative Futures Group supports people with a wide range of needs, including learning disability, mental health, autistic spectrum disorder and physical disability – principally through supported living models, including individual outreach services, flat schemes and shared supported houses. Levels of support range from 24 hour staffing to daily visits.

Alternative Futures Group has always recognised that the key to successfully including people in their own communities is to:

  • Develop supportive environments, tailored to the needs of the individual
  • To identify risks – and then manage them, not avoid them
  • To ensure that our support teams work in close partnership with the individual, their families, all relevant professionals and everyone else who is important to them.

More and more, we are developing highly individualised services through individualised budgets (see Support Brokerage).

Developing new skills and being supported to experience new activities and situations is fundamental to enabling people not just to take part in community life, but also to play a valued part in that community. As a result we work through individually recruited, local teams who support people to build local relationships with services, businesses and communities, exploring opportunites which enable people to be active and proactive in their local areas and to become increasingly independent, but at the pace which suits them.
